How a commission works
A bespoke bake is a conversation before it is a transaction. Here is exactly how that conversation runs, and where the money comes into it.
Four short steps, ten minutes at most. The occasion, the date, roughly how many people, the flavours you lean towards and what you had in mind to spend. Photographs and Pinterest links are welcome — they say more than adjectives do.

Within two working days you get a written plan: the components, the flavours, how it will be finished, what is possible on your date — and a firm quote. If something in the brief will not work, she will say so and suggest what will.

Accept the quote and pay the whole amount. That is what reserves your date on the calendar and buys the chocolate, the butter and the fruit. Nothing is mixed before it is settled — a two-person studio cannot float ingredients.

Past commissions
Every one of these started as a paragraph from someone who was not sure how to describe what they wanted. That is the normal starting point.
Brown butter and orange blossom, shells hand-piped the morning of the ceremony so the humps were still crisp at 6pm. Boxed in sixes with the couple's initials on the seal.
Forty milk-bread buns, piped in three sittings across the afternoon so nobody ate a bun that had been standing. Eggless, at the host's request, without touching the crumb.
Dough enriched the night before, shaped at five, out of the oven at eight. Two fillings — one vegetarian, one not — labelled in a way guests could read across a crowded room.
Valrhona ganache, a salted caramel seam, and no decoration beyond a clean edge. The brief said quiet, and the brief was right. Serves eight; they took a week over it.

Before you ask
Answered the way Amitha would answer them on the phone — including the ones where the answer is no.
Seven days is the floor for a celebration cake, fourteen for a dessert table, and about six weeks for a wedding. Festival weeks fill three weeks out. Earlier is always better — the calendar, not the oven, is usually what says no.
Yes, and properly. Eggless is not a substitution we apologise for here; the sponges, the buns and most of the patisserie are built for it from the start. Nut-free is straightforward too. Gluten-free we do for some items and not others, and we will tell you honestly which is which rather than sell you something disappointing.
We do not. Atelier Marvelle is a pastry studio rather than a sugar-craft one, so our finishes are ganache, buttercream, chocolate work, fresh fruit and flowers. If you want a sculpted fondant piece, say so in the brief and we will point you to someone in Bengaluru who does it beautifully.
That is the most common brief we get. Give us the occasion, the number of people, one flavour you love and one you cannot stand, and Amitha will propose two directions for you to choose between. Deciding is easier than inventing.
The brief is free and the quote is free. If you accept the quote, the full amount is paid up front through PayU before baking begins. There is no part-payment option — a two-person studio cannot float ingredients or hold a date on a promise, and pretending otherwise would only end badly for one of us.
Small changes — a colour, a message, a swap between two fruits — are usually fine up to five days before your date, at no extra cost. Anything that changes the size or the structure means a fresh quote, because it changes what has already been bought.
Across Bengaluru, in a cold box, timed to your event rather than to our route. The charge depends on distance and appears in the quote. Pickup from the Indiranagar studio is always free, and for anything tall or fragile it is genuinely the safer option.
Cancel more than seven days before your date and you get the full amount back, less any ingredient already bought specifically for you. Inside seven days the ingredients are in the building and the day is blocked, so refunds are not possible. We will always try to move a date before we cancel one.
Bespoke work starts at around two thousand rupees. Below that you are better served by the counter — the same hands, the same butter, none of the back-and-forth.
Ask anyway. Amitha would rather spend five minutes telling you honestly that it is not our kind of work than have you wonder. Most conversations start with a photograph and one line.
